Make your next event memorable!

The Robert Snyder Dining Commons is an excellent facility for wedding receptions, banquets and other special events. Most events range from 200 to 275 individuals. The maximum capacity is 360. This allows for an area for dancing and a band or DJ. The Potter Center Patio may be reserved for an additional cost. Catering requests must be made through Memorable Events, our on-campus food service.

In addition to the Snyder Dining Room, Jackson College offers community rooms in Bert Walker Hall.

  • Potter Center Rental Information

    Cost

    The charge for use of the Snyder Dining Commons (a five-hour reception) for residents of Jackson County is $750. Non-residents pay $850. A security guard will be hired at $100.00 (for the five hours) when alcohol is served or for high school proms. An additional $150/hr. will be charged after the initial five hours. There is a stipulation on the length of the event; the times must be finalized no later than 3 days before the event and guests must leave by 1:00AM. The College requires a 50% deposit of the total fee at the time you reserve the room. The balance is due one week prior to the event.

    Potter Center Patio

    The Potter Center Patio may be reserved for an additional $200. If the patio is not reserved, alcoholic beverages must remain inside the dining commons. Signs will be posted to this effect and security will enforce this rule.

    Food Service

    Food service arrangements must be made through the catering service on campus, Memorable Events Catering. They offer a complete line of menus ranging from hors d’oeuvre receptions to buffets to sit down dinners. Managers may be reached at 517.796.8407, to discuss your food requirements; menu available upon request.

    Alcoholic beverages

    Private parties may serve alcoholic beverages at the College so long as guests are not asked to pay for the beverages. The renter is responsible for purchasing his own alcoholic beverages, but mixes for the bar must be purchased through Memorable Events. An outside bartending service may be brought in or one can be recommended by the College. A security guard will be hired at $100.00 when alcohol is served or for high school proms.

    Capacity

    A security guard will be here for the length of your reception if you are serving alcoholic beverages. The costs are detailed above.

    Decorating

    Hired decorators need to work closely with the College. Decorating is restricted to tables and/or self-standing decorations.

    Cancellation Policy

    The 50% deposit is fully refundable up to six months from the date. After that, refunds will only be issued if we are able to fill the date with another client.

    Liability Insurance

    The College does not require liability insurance for individuals renting the facility, but we would encourage you to check with your homeowner’s agent regarding your personal liability and the cost of additional coverage for that one particular day.

    Reservations for the Potter Center’s Snyder Dining Commons can be made by calling the Office of Community Relations & Performing Arts at 517.796.8473. While certain months are popular and book quickly, others don’t, so please call to check on availability.
